We are currently looking for an experienced Forklift / Auto Mechanic. This position will perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on our company forklifts and other equipment.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Removes unsafe equipment from facility operating area and notifies supervisor.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and manufacturer specifications.
- Repairs and maintains various types of forklifts including electric, gas-powered, and propane-powered.
- Test forklifts to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- Conduct tire service operations, including changing and repairing tires.
- Repair and maintain air brake systems on various types of heavy machinery.
- Schedules and performs routine maintenance for forklifts.
- Ensures batteries for electric forklifts are fully charged.
- Replaces empty propane tanks on propane-powered forklifts.
- Maintains repair log for forklifts fleet.
- Perform soldering tasks as needed for electrical components.
- Follow all safety protocols while working on-site to ensure a safe working environment.
General Requirements/Experience:
- Ability to use hand and power tools to repair forklifts.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be physically capable of accessing all parts of the forklift needing repairs or maintenance, either by kneeling, bending, reaching, lying on back, etc.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics related to mechanical systems.
- Strong communication skills to effectively transmit information within the team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required based on job location.
